POSTDOC AND FAMILY APARTMENTS

 

The New West Village Apartments at the University Village, Albany (UVA)

 

Opening in August 2008

 

The new West Village is opening 324 additional apartments in August 2008: 116 two bedroom apartments, 16 three bedroom apartments and 192 one bedroom apartments.  The units are designed to be family-friendly, located around courtyards with an open space greenway connecting to the playground, at the center of University Village, right near the community gardens on the western edge of the property.

 

Proposed Rents for 2008-09:

 

1 Bedroom                   $1,195

 

2 Bedroom                   $1,428

 

3 Bedroom                   $1,626

 

Eligibility: married or partnered postdocs, students, or visiting scholars with or without children, and single parents.  Apartment size depends on the size of your family.

 

Utilities including water, garbage, recycling, gas, electricity, parking space, basic cable, and internet data line are included in the rent.

 

Amenities include wall-to-wall carpeting in living room and bedrooms, vinyl tile flooring in kitchen and glazed porcelain ceramic tile floors in bathroom. All windows have 2" horizontal louver blinds and screens. Sliding glass doors have vertical louvers. 1st floor apartments have patios with bicycle hold, while 2nd and 3rd floor apartments enjoy small decks. Phone, data and cable TV jacks are provided in each bedroom, living room and study area.

 

Kitchens feature solid maple cabinetry with swan stone solid surface counter tops, stainless steel double sink, 18 cu. ft. refrigerator, 30" 4 burner gas range with self cleaning oven and range hood with exhaust fan and light.

 

Bathrooms have exhaust fan which remains on 10-15 minutes after turning out light to remove moisture. Built-in linen shelves in closet. Common laundry rooms close by.
