PMBPA NEWS:
09/08/09 Notes form the faculty meeting: Faculty_meeting_090809.doc
9/8/09: It is true. @nature.berkeley.edu is going away as an email domain. Jan. 15, 2010 will be our last day as an email server.[Note: The host nature.berkeley.edu will live on as a web server, file
server, database server, license server, and so on.]
Here are the steps outlining what you will need to do:
1. Create an @berkeley.edu email account at:
- login with your calnet id and passphrase
- click on create account
to set up forwarding to your new account and an
auto-reply saying you have a new address @berkeley.edu
(call for a new unix password if needed: Gary 2-5583, Ivan 2-9957)
Note: once you have this set up, you should set up normal vacation
3. Configure your mail client (thunderbird, mac mail, outlook, ...)
- Try *adding* the new account, so you can see both your nature
and calmail message store (mostly applies to IMAP users)
- Use calmail.berkeley.edu as the incoming and outgoing server.
- Use the same SSL/TLS/Port#'s that worked for nature
4. Update directory information:
- UC ANR -- send an email to Byron Nobel <bjnoel@ucdavis.edu>
there, too)
If you get stuck, feel free to submit a request at

Updated information on salary changes:
Issued to date by the Office of the President for selected academic titles to be effective October 1, 2008.
**POSTDOCTORAL SCHOLARS:
The minimum salary rate for postdoctoral scholars is increasing from $34,752 to $35,508, effective October 1, 2008. Steps I and II of the current postdoctoral scholar scale will reflect this new rate. The total compensation provided to Postdoctoral-Fellows and Postdoctoral-Paid Directs should also reflect this new minimum. Further, PIs should plan for an additional increase to the minimum of the scale effective 10/1/09. The new minimum will either be $37,000 or the minimum of the NIH NRSA fellowship scale, whichever is higher.
Pay checks issued on October 31, 2008, for monthly employees and November 7, 2008, for hourly employees will reflect the new pay rates.
The updated salary scales are available at: http://apo.chance.berkeley.edu/10-01-08.Salary.Adjustments.html
